The History of Innovative Payment Solutions LLC

Innovative Payment Solutions LLC (IPS) was founded in Florida in August 2002 as a family owned and run business by brothers Jim and Jon Seavey, both Maine born and raised. It began because they saw a need by merchants in the bad check recovery arena that required an honest solution.

After three months of re-acquainting themselves, plus discovering who each other were as businessmen, the planning process resulted in establishing an LLC. With that accomplishment realized, Jim moved back to Maine and began to market the bad check recovery program in earnest.

October 2003 brought Jon and his family north. IPS became a registered company in New Hampshire at this time and the two "Maineiacs" were off and running. Since its formation, IPS has enrolled in excess of 600 locations in the bad check recovery program. It primarily services small and medium sized businesses throughout the Northeast, but can serve any size company, anywhere in the United States due to the electronic nature of the business. IPS's largest bad check client is a convenience store chain with 130 locations.

IPS is one of the largest independent bad check recovery company in New England.  IPS is a member of NEACH (New England Automated Clearing House Association) in good standing.

IPS prides itself on excellent customer care, an essential ingredient of the family business, some of which is provided by Jim's wife and daughter. In 2004, IPS diversified its product offerings by establishing an association with ATM Cash Dispensers, Inc. of Jackson, Maine. IPS markets Tidel machines for ATM Cash and the relationship was founded upon corresponding customer service philosophies.

Although not IPS' forte, Accounts Receivable recovery for customers on the bad check recovery program was introduced as a value added, supplemental service.

IPS also developed an alliance with an 80 year old collection firm in Portland, Maine. They provide IPS with much of its secondary recovery on older bad checks and a majority of the Accounts Receivable recovery.

Most recently, IPS identified an on-line, on-demand payment processing system that is second to none. A company named GoToBilling developed this Web based Payment System. After much consternation and a long, hard negotiating period with a previous company, IPS decided to break off those negotiations and parted ways. Through a contact Jim had for 8 or 9 years in the payment industry, GoToBilling was revealed. IPS discovered there was no comparison between the product and customer service of each company. GoToBilling far outdistanced the first company, hence IPS decision to align with them. IPS believes it to be the pivotal decision for its expansion further into the payment arena.

After 4½ plus years in the payment business, IPS is poised for a very exciting, prosperous and productive future. With the new on-line, on-demand payment product GoToBilling as its mainstay, IPS will be part of a payment revolution that will set the standard in the industry for many years to come, while maintaining its commitment to excellent customer care and relationship building.
